I also feel very identified with you. Throughout my life, I’ve seen many people speak very highly of their parents, and for me, it’s very difficult to continue the conversation when that topic comes up. I just nod my head and try to pretend that I also had amazing parents, but I know it’s a lie, and I know they probably wouldn’t understand me.

My mother always treated me like I was worthless, like I was good for nothing, while constantly comparing me to my cousins. My father was rarely home because of work, but I never felt that he loved me either. I often felt like I was a burden to them.

When I decided to find my own path, it was very difficult. They left me with psychological wounds that I still carry with me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t move forward. Now that I’m finally able to face life and stand on my own, I’m dedicating myself to studying and building a new path so that I can have a different life.

You are so strong Angel. Don’t ever forget that. Our parents don’t get to define how we decide to move in life once we leave. Be the person YOU always knew you were and love yourself the way you knew you deserved 🫶🏼

The best art - writing, music, and the visual arts - are fueled by the struggle and the pain and suffering we’ve experienced and that’s a part of us. Few are emotionally honest enough to produce such art and allow others into the darkness of their lives. You’re inspiring and motivating others through your own struggles. Thank you for that. Your story is relatable to me.

I have a story that I've shared with many people in my work preventing child abuse and neglect. It's a long story spanning 30 years that continues to this day. Let me know when you have a few hours to spare. I think it would make a great screenplay.

I relate to this Eevie. I wish I can write about my life stories. So many jaw dropping guffaw moments. I'm am no writer. Terrible at run on sentences and other writing errors. I could never get it even in college. Oh well. Until someone comes along and wants to hear my stories. They stay buried. Such as life I suppose.

A. Eevie Bateman's avatar

I would love to hear them. Maybe I could ghost write for you?

Thank you for sharing this, it feels less lonely knowing I have at least one true sister in the world.
