I don't need a degree or a press badge to tell the truth. People keep calling me a journalist. I'm not. I don't have a little black book of secret contacts, a newsroom, or a lawyer on retainer. I'm a mother, a writer and a woman who just got pissed off enough to start paying closer attention.
Then I couldn't stop.
People ask me when it started. The anger had always been simmering. Ever since childhood. I experienced injustice, gaslighting, lies and genuinely evil people my entire life, so when I began to pay more attention to politics, I wasn’t really surprised. The normalcy of it all was jarring when I look back.
But, when it finally reached a boil, I can tell you exactly where I was.
My husband and I were flying to Gig Harbor, Washington, for a retirement party for his combat brother—a man he trained with at intelligence school and served alongside during the war that began after 9/11. They were the two “old guys” the younger soldiers looked up to. My husband was 28 when he joined the Army; his battle brother was damn near 40. They formed a bond forged in war, built on loyalty and trust, and it runs so deep that our son is named after him.
This was supposed to be a trip about honor, loyalty, and the people who show up for each other when it matters most. And it was going to be a total surprise. Joe had no idea we were coming. The anticipation was palpable. We were practically vibrating with excitement, knowing the moment he realized we were there was going to be unforgettable. Despite what you’re about to read, I managed to compose myself to enjoy this beautiful moment between my husband his his battle brother:
It was June 24, 2022.
Somewhere over this dying country, between SeaTac and DFW, flying just over 500 miles an hour and scrolling Reddit to pass the time, I learned that the Supreme Court had overturned Roe v. Wade.
The ruling that had protected women. The ruling that had established a constitutional right to abortion care, expanded access and safety, reduced maternal mortality, and given generations of women control over their reproductive lives.
Nearly fifty years of precedent, gone.
And I was sitting in a window seat, staring down at the country it was happening to.
Then, like a tidal wave, the tears came.
I wept. Right there in my seat. I turned to my husband and just wept. It wasn't polite crying. It was soul-crushing grief. Somewhere in my body I knew this wasn't the end of something. It was the beginning. I wasn’t devastated by the ruling itself though. I was devastated because I knew the fight ahead was going to be grueling and I wasn’t sure if I could do it. I felt defeated. It was the first of MANY blows women in this country were about to take. Our right’s were going to be picked off one by one if we didn’t fight. Women would die. Our right to vote was next.
And I was right.
I blame Senate Democrats for the death of the Women’s Health Protection Act. It failed twice in 2022 because it couldn’t clear the 60-vote filibuster threshold. The last time, Joe Manchin voted with every Republican to kill it. Biden said he’d support a filibuster exception to codify Roe, but Manchin and Sinema wouldn’t budge on the rule and that was the end of it. The people we elected fucked us again.
And this didn’t start in 2022. Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority in 2009 and could have codified Roe then, while it was still standing. They didn’t, despite calls to do so. When the Court was stacked against us, the idea of adding four justices went nowhere and Biden refused to get behind it.
Why? Because these rich assholes hate women. They need us beneath them. They need us controllable. It’s no secret that Republicans hate us, but Democrats were supposed to be better. Evidently, they hate us too, and their votes prove it.
So, at first I cried. But then I got pissed. Not the flailing, screaming-into-the-void kind of pissed. The other kind. Calculated. Poised. Unapologetic. Cathartic rage with a plan. Don't-fuck-with-me energy. And I was in it for the long haul. I saw the writing on the wall 30,000 ft in the air as I stared at my phone screen with tears in my eyes. I landed at SeaTac International airport a different woman than the one who boarded that plane in DFW. Before that flight, I was the woman who took a chance and put trust in the adults in the room that they had it handled. My gut told me not to though. And my gut was right.
I was an Early Childhood Education Director at the time, rolling into my 20th year working with kids, spending time teaching them about fairness, taking turns, empathy, coping skills and nurturing healthy brain development. I raised my family. I voted in every election since I turned 18. I wanted so badly to trust that the systems built to protect us would, at minimum, hold.
They didn't. They’re not. They were never going to.
A lot of wealthy somebodies spent decades and a whole lot of money making sure of it. So I started following the money. I started asking who paid for what, who benefits and who gets hurt. The masterminds behind the collapse. I learned about dark money, the shell groups, corporate PACs and the donors who buy legislation the way the rest of us buy gas and groceries. I absorbed all of it.
I started writing about it, and I didn’t give a damn who it offended or who I pissed off. At the end of the day, the truth is the truth, and anyone determined to live inside comfortable lies can argue with a wall. I wasn’t afraid, and I wasn’t trying to make friends. I wanted to understand how the hell we got here — and expose every fucking inch of it.
I’m accurate. I verify everything and I show my sources. As the information pours in, I follow the evidence where it leads and I change my mind when the evidence tells me to. I know two things can be true at the same time, and when they are, my moral compass decides which one I stand on.
I’ve spent a lifetime learning to trust myself. I’ve learned the hard way that people will let you down, one way or another. The only person you can fully trust is yourself. So when people show you who they are, believe them. Every single time.
I’ll never pretend I don't have a stake in this. I have EVERYTHING at stake in this. So do you. That's what they count on, you know. That you'll grieve and then go numb. That you'll cry on the plane, then get off and go back to your life. Don't. Cry if you need to. I did. Then get the fuck up and get pissed. Get organized. Get loud, or get quiet and strategic. But get moving. Do something.
We save ourselves.
You don't need a title to fight for your own freedom. You just need to decide you're done being polite about losing it. I decided on that plane. What was your moment? And if it hasn't come yet, what’s it going to take?
Here’s what’s coming… Don’t say nobody warned you.
The war with Iran. This isn’t a skirmish. It’s a fucking war. The US and Israel started illegally bombing Iran in February of this year and it hasn’t stopped. And don’t even get me started on the innocent fisherman they murdered or the horrific genocide playing out on the West Bank. Iran recently put a written plan on the table to end it, but our joke of a president said no. He also says he’s “always thinking about” resuming strikes.
Meanwhile, people are dying. The Pentagon lies about the number of service member casualties. I imagine the numbers will be incredibly shocking once this is all said and done. Those are somebody’s sons and daughters. MY fucking son, who joined during peace time so he could get money for college. Now he’s stuck in an indoctrinated blood-cult being run by a war mongering SECDEF and POTUS. Watch whether Congress ever grows a spine and asserts its war powers, or keeps letting this run on autopilot. If they don't, the body count only keeps climbing, and there's nothing stopping it from getting a lot worse.
Your grocery bill and your gas tank. That war is showing up at the pump and the checkout line. Oil and gas prices are climbing, and drivers, delivery workers, and farmers are feeling it first. A pound of ground beef hit $6.92 in August, an all-time high. It’s currently $8.99 in the city where I live. New tariffs on pharmaceuticals hit every remaining company as of September 29. The memory-chip shortage choking electronics and industrial equipment is expected to drag into late 2027. So when prices go up again, and they will, ask the only question that matters — who’s profiting from the tariffs and who’s profiting from the war?
We’ve also entered a housing and auto industry crisis over the summer. It hasn’t even peaked yet. It’s just getting started…
ICE in your town. Not just the big cities. Yours. Enforcement is spreading into small-town America. In western Kansas, it started in Garden City, Liberal, and Dodge City. Now it’s in Great Bend and Scott City. Local organizers say they’ve never seen anything like it. Even the cattle industry is sounding the alarm, saying the raids are scaring workers away from feed yards, dairies and transportation hubs. And the fear doesn’t stay in immigrant neighborhoods. A University of Illinois Chicago study found the crackdown drained more than $1.26 billion from Chicago-area businesses. If they can do it to your neighbors, they can do it to you.
Your vote. Trump signed an executive order that would let the Postal Service refuse to deliver mail ballots to anyone who isn't on a pre-approved list. The Supreme Court blocked the Postal Service rule for November. But, don't celebrate yet. Justice Kavanaugh wrote there was a "fair prospect" the Postal Service has the authority to do it. His main problem was that election officials didn't have enough time before this election. That's not a no. That's a not yet, and 2028 is coming.
Other parts of the order are still standing and the Court just signed off on using the federal SAVE system to vet voters. That matters because systems like this do not operate in a vacuum. When a database can’t confirm someone’s citizenship, the burden can shift to the voter to prove it, sometimes with documents that don’t reflect her current name.
And that is where women are especially vulnerable.
The SAVE Act’s proof-of-citizenship requirements can create another hurdle for women who changed their names after marriage and whose birth certificates, passports, or other records don’t neatly match their current identification. Your vote should not hinge on whether you can produce a paper trail that satisfies a bureaucrat, but that is exactly the kind of obstacle this creates.
Right here in my home state of Texas, a DPS screwup left at least 200,000 voter registration applications and updates sitting in a backlog — some dating back nearly a year! And the same federal verification system has already flagged Texans who were, in fact, eligible citizens. Check your registration. Then check it again. Then make your sister, daughter, aunt, and mother check theirs.
Republicans are losing the fight, and when narcissistic losers begin to lose, they almost always double down. So don’t fucking look away — not for a second.
Your body. This month, the Fifth Circuit heard Louisiana’s lawsuit to end mail and pharmacy access to mifepristone, the medication used in nearly two-thirds of US abortions and also used for miscarriage care. Their goal is to kill telehealth prescribing and mailing nationwide, including in states where abortion is still legal. At the same time, the Trump administration is running its own “review” of the drug, which reproductive rights groups call, a pretext.
If they win, it won’t stop at the Texas border.
It will reach every woman in every state.
And we already know what that looks like, because Texas has been living it. Josseli Barnica was 17 weeks pregnant and miscarrying when doctors waited 40 hours for the fetal heartbeat to stop before inducing delivery. She died a slow, horrific and miserable death because of an infection three days later. Nevaeh Crain was 18 and her organs were failing when she was made to wait 90 minutes for a second ultrasound to confirm fetal demise. She died too. After Texas banned abortion, the sepsis rate among women hospitalized while losing a pregnancy in the second trimester jumped more than 50 percent. Neither of those women wanted an abortion. It didn't matter. That's what these laws do. They don't protect life. They make doctors afraid to save yours.
AI, with nobody at the wheel. Trump revoked Biden's AI safety executive order on his first day back in office. Then, on December 11, 2025, he signed another one to override state AI laws. It set up a Justice Department task force whose job is to sue states over their AI laws and it threatened to withhold roughly $42 billion in broadband funding from states that don't fall in line. Congress already tried a 10-year ban on state AI regulation and thankfully, the Senate actually did us a solid and killed it 99 to 1.
That's how unpopular this is. But the fight isn't over.
A new federal preemption draft is stalled, not dead. So far, the states are holding the line — 29 states passed 109 AI laws in the first half of 2026 alone, many of them focused on protecting kids from companion chatbots. Texas has its own AI law, which took effect January 1. I suggest watching whether Washington succeeds in stripping your state's power to protect you from technology that's moving faster than anyone can regulate it. Families have sued and settled over chatbots they say pushed their kids toward self-harm. Americans lost about $893 million to AI scams last year, and seniors took the biggest hit. There’s a job seeker suing over AI screening software he says rejected him more than 100 times. State attorneys general have been some of the first to fight back. If the federal government won't set rules and won't let the states set them either, there are no rules. Just companies doing whatever the hell they want. Fuck that.
That’s the landscape. Now you know. What you do with it is up to you.
Keep your eyes wide open everybody. Stay fucking pissed!

No pressure. No guilt. Just me, asking nicely, with my hand out like a very earnest raccoon who writes controversial essays.
Thank you for being here. Seriously. You make this worth doing.

This quote says it all: Trump signed an executive order that would let the Postal Service refuse to deliver mail ballots to anyone who isn't on a pre-approved list. The Supreme Court blocked the Postal Service rule for November. But don't celebrate yet. Justice Kavanaugh wrote there was a "fair prospect" that the Postal Service has the authority to do it. His main problem was that election officials didn't have enough time before this election. That's not a no. That's a not yet, and 2028 is coming. It's no longer a slow-moving coup- it's in full operation.
The entire government needs to be torn down root and limb. The corrupt traitors and cowards that are stealing and looting we the people along with the capital class need to be kicked out. The Constitution needs to be redone so that these white supremacy conservatives don’t get to keep playing preservationists with their un-Constitutional injustices. Anything remotely connected to the Heritage Foundation, Reagan and Mitch McConnell needs to be exterminated.
Fuck the patriarchy!! Fuck religion! Fuck the fascists and techno-fascists! Fuck SCOTUS!
